Eagle Claw Kung Fu (鹰爪功, Yīng Zhǎo Gōng) is one of the most formidable and technically sophisticated styles in the Chinese martial arts tradition. Known for its devastating grabbing, seizing, and locking techniques — as well as its powerful 170+ movement forms — Eagle Claw represents a complete martial system that has produced some of China’s most formidable fighters.
The Eagle Claw Approach
Unlike styles that emphasize strikes, Eagle Claw specializes in control: seizing opponent’s limbs, locking joints, and applying pressure points to neutralize attackers. The style’s practitioners are trained to grab an opponent’s wrist and, through precise technique, bring them to the ground with minimal force.
Eagle Claw is famous for its “qin na” (擒拿, joint lock) techniques — the Chinese equivalent of martial arts grappling. These techniques focus on controlling opponent’s joints rather than striking.
