Origin and Development

Tai Chi originated in the Chenjiagou of Wenxian County, Henan Province, during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Chen Wangting created Tai Chi based on family martial arts and absorbing the essence of various schools.

Five Major Styles

  • Chen Style – The oldest style, with both soft and hard elements
  • Yang Style – The most widely spread, soft and slow
  • Wu Style – Compact and delicate, emphasizing internal cultivation
  • Wu Style (Hao) – Small frame, delicate and exquisite
  • Sun Style – Combining Tai Chi, Xingyi, and Bagua
