Do’s

  • Greetings – A slight nod or handshake is appropriate
  • Gifts – Bring small gifts when visiting someone’s home
  • Dining – Wait for the host to start eating
  • Respect – Show respect to elders

Don’ts

  • Chopsticks – Don’t stick them upright in rice
  • Shoes – Remove shoes when entering homes
  • Tipping – Not customary in most places
  • Personal Space – Expect less personal space in crowds
